Danny Klein to lead discussion at Supercomm Panel, Chicago June 8
June 08, 2005
The term convergence has been batted around for a decade, but one place convergence could happen is between wireline and wireless voice and data via IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem). Heralded initially by the 3GPP/3GPP2 standard and IETF protocols, IMS enables new converged voice and data services, while providing interoperability of these services between subscribers. Still, many challenges remain. Since wireline and wireless providers speak different languages, how can they work together to deliver converged fixed/mobile services? How serious are they really about IMS? What new services will IMS enable?
