Atrica's mission is to supply Metro Carriers the Optical Ethernet systems they need to deliver high speed, profitable services. Atrica's strategy is based on the fundamental belief that the existing strategy of forcing SONET (synchronous optical network) technology into the Metro network in an effort to meet the increasing wave of data-oriented bandwidth requirements in the Metro market will be both too expensive and too difficult to manage. The end result of this effort will be services that do not match the technology requirements of the user community and do not offer the service provider cost structure required for today's market. The vision of Atrica is that Ethernet - a technology that has scaled from 1 Mbps to more than 10 Gigabits per second over the past two decades - can meet the growing bandwidth demands in the Metro market in a way that is much more user driven than the alternative SONET vendor-deployment strategy in effect today. Founded in February 2000, Atrica is a privately-held company based in Santa Clara CA, with engineering and operations facilities in Israel and sales offices in the U.S., France, U.K., Germany and Hong Kong.
