Donal Byrne, CEO
Donal joined Corvil in September 2000 as non-executive Chairman. At this time he also held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of FirstMark Communications, a leading start-up company providing Broadband Internet and Telecommunications services to businesses in Europe. In December, 2001 Donal was appointed President & CEO of Corvil.

Prior to joining FirstMark Communications in 1999, Donal was the Senior Vice President of Marketing for FORE Systems, a leading Internet switching company in the US. In 1996 Donal was co-founder, Vice President of Marketing and ASIC Team Leader for Berkeley Networks, a successful Silicon Valley Internet switching company that was acquired by FORE Systems in 1998.

From 1993 to 1996, Donal worked at Bay Networks (now Nortel Networks) where he served as director of product management and enterprise architecture with responsibilities for layer-3 switch product development and solutions architecture for the enterprise business unit. Donal joined Bay Networks from Digital Equipment Corporation, where he led the hardware and software engineering development of a wide range of data switching and Internet routing products, in Boston, USA. In 1987, Donal worked in the CNET research laboratories, France, where he focused on the development of high-speed optical transmission and telecommunications solutions.

Donal holds B.E. and M.Eng.Sc degrees from University College Dublin.
