Bluesocket Named SC Magazine's Best of 2005
February 27, 2006
BURLINGTON, Mass. - February 27, 2006 - Bluesocket, Inc., (www.bluesocket.com) the leader in open wireless network, security and management solutions, today announced that its BlueSecure wireless network solution was featured in SC Magazine's "Best of 2005" wireless category, which recognizes top-performing products of the year.
This prestigious achievement follows a May 2005 comparative product review of wireless products, in which BlueSecure earned SC Magazine's "Best Buy" and a five-star rating. According to the testing team, BlueSecure's ability to integrate into an overall security strategy, paired with its competitive price, helped it stand out among other products in its category.
"In 2005, we reviewed more than 200 security products, covering every aspect of information security," said Jon Tullett, SC Magazine technology editor. "BlueSecure stood out as a leader in the wireless category because of its powerful early warning system and ability to lock down threats the moment they appear. The other wireless products were more limited in this capability."
Announced at Interop in May 2005, the BlueSecure product line creates a system that detects all wireless 802.11 a/b/g devices within the sensor's range. The ability to detect and stop attacks through the airwaves places BlueSecure ahead of the competition because most do not detect intrusions until after network security has been compromised. BlueSecure also can block rogue access points and stations; create more than 20 different types of reports including many compliance requirement reports; and supports e-mail, SNMP or integration into third party systems to notify administrators of wireless LAN (WLAN) issues. Bluesocket customer Queens Library took advantage of these capabilities by recently installing a BlueSecure 5000 Controller, which provides secure wireless access to 12 of its branch locations. During the next three years, the library will expand the existing network to 51 additional locations, providing wireless access to more than 14 million visitors.
In December 2005, Bluesocket added DynamicRFTM, Secure VoIP and RF Intrusion Detection System (IDS) capabilities, enhancing the original product line (See press release,"New Bluesocket® WLAN Suite Delivers Secure Enterprise Voice Solution," December 12, 2005). With these new enhancements, Bluesocket was able to further expand its reach and offer a complete WLAN solution to enterprises.
"The SC Magazine awards are true testaments to the outstanding innovation and quality testing by our product management and engineering teams," said Ralph Calistri, Bluesocket CEO. "Furthermore, the awards validate our commitment to raising industry standards and providing ground-breaking product features to our customers when they need them."
