Bluesocket Earns Editor's Choice Awards and Five-Star Ratings

July 17, 2006

BURLINGTON, Mass. - July 17, 2006 - Bluesocket, Inc., (www.bluesocket.com) the leader in open wireless network, security and management solutions, today announced its BlueSecure product family received Editor's Choice awards and five-star ratings from Service Provider Weekly and its sister publication, PC News Weekly. The publications' editors praised Bluesocket's BlueSecure WLAN suite for enabling network administrators to build secure and powerful wireless networks.

"Many businesses struggle to find a solution that addresses wireless challenges such as wide coverage areas, multiple buildings and increasing user loads," said Ken Durham, Editor at Service Provider Weekly. "Bluesocket's BlueSecure solution helps network administrators to easily manage and deploy wireless networks. Its advanced security, high performance and ease of use made it a clear choice for our Editor's Choice Award and five-star ratings."

The BlueSecure Controller and Access Points use Bluesocket's Secure Mobility¨ technology to provide enterprise-class WLAN security and management capabilities. BlueSecure Access Points can be directly attached to any existing Ethernet switch or IP router and automatically "auto-configure" by associating with a BlueSecure Controller. The Controller then automatically configures each Access Point based on the policies and configuration set by the administrator. This ease of management prompted Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) to deploy a centrally-located BlueSecure 5000 Controller to manage its wireless network, which includes 143 APs in more than 25 campus buildings.

"We needed a solution that not only provided secure tracking and bandwidth control but also minimized the support burden on our small IT staff," said Al Stader, Director of Infrastructure and Security at MSSU. "Of all the wireless solutions we considered, the BlueSecure Controller was the only product that provided Web-based authentication, strong security and simple user log-in procedures. It effectively handles all authentications, tracking and correlating of user IDs, greatly reducing our staff's time and workload."

Also receiving award recognition, the BlueView Management System is a Web browser-based application that enables administrators to provision, configure and manage all of their WLAN deployments remotely from a central location. The system automatically discovers BlueSecure Controllers and their associated Access Points across a configurable range of IP addresses or networks. Administrators can then schedule and automate maintenance tasks; run reports; and locate rogue APs, users and attackers - all from a single location.

"Bluesocket's BlueSecure product line was developed to meet the needs of our customers, who were looking for an easy-to-use, cost-effective approach to managing secure WLAN infrastructures," said Mads Lillelund, CEO at Bluesocket. "These Editor's Choice awards and five-star ratings are great recognitions of our strong product portfolio. Bluesocket will continue to bring solutions to the market that will ease the challenges of complex wireless environments."

Most recently, in May 2006, Bluesocket introduced the industry's first enterprise-class Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) wireless AP. The BlueSecure Access Point 1700 provides a greater than 30 percent increase in range and overall performance with standard 802.11a/b/g clients than APs using legacy 802.11 technologies.
