Aegis Semiconductor Names Jeffrey Farmer as Chief Executive Officer

Woburn, Massachusetts – June 21, 2006 ─ Aegis Semiconductor, a leading supplier of cost-effective wavelength monitoring and control solutions, has named Jeffrey D. Farmer as its President and Chief Executive Officer. He will also serve as a member of the Aegis board of directors.

In his new role, Mr. Farmer succeeds Dr. Donald Bossi, who has served as CEO since February 2005. “It’s exciting to have Jeff on board to continue the company’s growth and market traction,” said Dr. Bossi, who will continue to serve as a strategic advisor and member of the Aegis board of directors.

Mr. Farmer has significant CEO experience in leading the growth of venture-backed communications companies as well as general management, marketing, engineering and operations positions in the optical components, communications, aerospace and military markets. Prior to joining Aegis Semiconductor, Mr. Farmer served as the CEO of Continuum Photonics and then after its merger, as the Vice President of Global Sales at Polatis, Inc. Earlier in his career, Mr. Farmer served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and as a consultant at McKinsey & Co., focusing on strategic initiatives with RBOC’s throughout the U.S. Mr. Farmer holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School, an MS from MIT and a BS from the University of Minnesota. He also serves on the Board of the Massachusetts Network Communications Council.
