RedShift is Third Generation (Gen 3) Thermal Imaging that enables standard cameras to see heat and brings thermal imaging to sonsumer-level, mass market applications at a fraction of the cost of existing systems. They have developed a breakthrough product called the RedShift Thermal Light Valve (TLV). The TLV is a passive optical component that shifts long-wavelengths thermal infrared radiation to CMOS-visible light, thereby allowing standard CMOS cameras to now "see heat". They are poised to dramatically reshape and expand the multi-billion thermal, night vision and security imaging markets by becoming the first company to leverage the CMOS camera industry - with its volumes in the 100's of millions - to build thermal cameras with a breakthrough in camera price and performance.

Neal Creighton, CEO of Redshift Systems

Matthias Wagner, CEO
Matthias established the technical and business vision that drives RedShift Systems, and led its spin-off from Aegis Semiconductor, where the technology platform had been successfully developed and proven.

Matthias was the founder of Aegis Semiconductor, where he was CEO from 2000-2005. Aegis is a leading producer of tunable optical components and modules for the telecommunications and sensor markets. At Aegis, Matthias raised over $27 million in venture financing and built a world-class product team that implemented internal wafer fab and Far East assembly operations.

Previously, Matthias was a project lead with Princeton Consultants and a production engineer specializing in computer vision systems with Panasonic in Osaka, Japan. Matthias holds a BS Engineering/Physics from Harvard and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School.

Matthias was recently named a finalist for Ernst & Young’s New England Entrepreneur of the Year Award, which honors the entrepreneurial achievements of company founders who have made a significant contribution to the local economy and the entrepreneurial spirit. He was also recently selected as one of the top 40 Greater Boston’s best and brightest business people under 40 years old, and featured in the Boston Business Journal.
